Beat the Rain: Stay Active in Tamarindo
Rainy season in Tamarindo has plenty going for it. Lush landscapes, cooler temperatures, fewer crowds and some spectacular storms. The downside? Your perfectly planned afternoon run can turn into a swim home surprisingly quickly.
But a little rain doesn’t have to wash away your fitness routine. When outdoor plans get rained out, Spoke Club's indoor studio offers a weatherproof way to get the cardiovascular and muscular workout your body needs to stay active.
Make the Most of the Mornings
Rainy season doesn’t mean it rains all day. Tamarindo often serves up beautiful mornings before the afternoon clouds roll in, so take advantage of them. Go for a beach walk, run, surf or squeeze in an outdoor workout while the weather cooperates.
If you know rain is likely later, getting active earlier also means you can enjoy that afternoon downpour guilt-free.
Always Have a Plan B
The easiest way to stay consistent during rainy season is to stop relying entirely on the weather.
When outdoor plans get cancelled, have an indoor alternative ready. A strength workout, a yoga class or 20 minutes of mobility at home can keep your body moving without requiring much equipment or space.
And if pacing around your living room doesn’t quite provide the adrenaline rush or group energy you’re looking for, an indoor cycling class might do the trick.
Bring Your Cardio Inside
Indoor cycling is particularly well suited to rainy season. You still get an energetic, challenging cardio workout without worrying about muddy trails, slippery roads or checking the weather forecast every fifteen minutes.
Better yet, exercising with other people can provide some much-needed motivation on those grey afternoons when the couch is making a particularly convincing argument.
Protect the Habit
Missing one workout because of rain isn’t going to derail your fitness. The problem is when one rainy afternoon becomes three rainy days, which somehow becomes, “I’ll start again when dry season arrives.”
Instead of focusing on doing the exact same workout every day, focus on maintaining the habit of movement. Walk when it’s sunny. Stretch at home. Get on a bike. Mix things up and keep showing up.
At Spoke Club Tamarindo, the forecast inside is always perfect for a ride. So when the rain starts falling, come join us, turn up the music and keep moving.
The weather can change your plans. It doesn’t have to change your goals.
