Sweat, Surf, & Sunsets - Active Living in Tamarindo

Sweat, Surf & Sunsets: Active Living in Tamarindo

There’s something about Tamarindo that makes sitting still feel.. wrong. Maybe it’s the salt in the air, the year-round sunshine, or the fact that everyone around you seems to be either coming from a surf session or heading to one. Here, “active living” isn’t a trend, it’s just how life flows.

Mornings often begin in the waves. Tamarindo’s surf culture is contagious, and even if you’re not carving like a pro, you’ll find yourself paddling out and making a quick splash that somehow turns into hours. If the ocean isn’t calling, a jog through Langosta offers a quieter kind of magic. Tree-lined roads, ocean views, and the occasional howler monkey cheering you on (or judging your pace).

Afternoons might slow down.. slightly. Maybe a beach walk, maybe a hike through nearby trails. But let’s be honest, Tamarindo doesn’t really do “lazy” for long.

That’s where Spoke Club comes in.

Right in the heart of town, Spoke Club is where the heat and chaos of the outdoors are left on pause. Because while surfing is great for the soul, it’s not a sport that is for everyone. God bless the estuary, and the crocodiles therein (advanced surfers included). And jogging in the heat? Let’s just say it builds character.

Indoor cycling at Spoke Club fills that gap perfectly. It’s efficient, high-energy, low impact, and best of all.. air-conditioned. You get the intensity Tamarindo demands, without melting into the pavement. The lights are low, the music is loud, and suddenly you’re not just working out. You’re immersed in a sensory experience unlike anything you’ve experience in a beach town. Climbing hills, sprinting flats, maybe questioning your life choices for a second.. or sweating out some of the bad choices you made in a club the night before.

What makes it special isn’t just the workout, it’s the community. Surfers, runners, travellers, and locals all sweating it out together before heading back out into the wild rhythm of Tamarindo life.

Because here’s the thing: active living isn’t about choosing one thing. It’s about balance. Surf when the waves are good. Run when the tide is low. And when you want to push harder, ride.

Preferably with good music, great people, and a towel nearby.
